WHO WE ARE
DR ANTHONY OATES
Following two years of a psychology and sports science degree, Anthony switched to Osteopathy to follow his passion to treat patients in a more hands on fashion.
In 2019 he graduated from RMIT with a Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of Applied Science (Osteopathy).
Over the past four years he has been the head trainer at a local football club. He has extensive experience and a passion for treating sporting injuries, through the use of a variety of hands on techniques. Anthony is well versed in the application of rigid and kinesiology tape, as well as using his sports science background to provide appropriate exercise and rehabilitation advice.
Through his experience within occupational rehabilitation, Anthony has developed an understanding of treating and mitigating the risks of workplace injury.
Anthony strives to aid patients to regain their function and control. This not only relates to their sporting interests, but within their occupation and life as a whole.
When he isn’t treating Anthony enjoys playing golf, hiking and camping.
DR DANIEL BADDILEY
Dan graduated from the UNITEC Institute of Technology in Auckland, New Zealand with a Masters of Osteopathy in 2003. After working in New Zealand for seven years, he moved to Melbourne in 2010.
Upon graduating, Dan developed his skills working alongside experienced Osteopaths in a busy clinic in Wellington. At the same time he opened his own clinic in his home town of Masterton. He worked closely with local doctors, sports clubs, gyms and community groups to build a thriving practice. After relocating to Australia, he has worked as a senior associate at a clinic in Melbourne’s inner-west and a large centre in Melbournes CBD.
Dan’s treatment style follows the Osteopathic model by looking at the body as a whole, and determining how stresses and strains may impact on the overall health of an individual. He predominantly uses a structural model for treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions to effect change in the body, and offers advice on ergonomics, exercise, rehab, diet and lifestyle to provide a holistic service for his patients. Dan is also qualified in dry needling and the application of Rocktape, which has proven effective for treating a wide range of musculo-skeletal conditions.
A passionate sportsman, Dan has been actively participating in cycling, running and rugby union for most of his life (don’t get him started on the All Blacks). He has worked closely with athletes throughout his career – helping weekend warriors and general gym junkies through to elite level rugby and soccer players, runners, triathletes and Olympic cyclists.
Dan and his wife, Nichole, have 2 beautiful and active daughters - both of whom are taking great interest in keeping active and following their parents lead in living a balanced life.
Dr dylan Sorensen
Dylan is passionate about understanding the reason how he can best help all patients. Exploring acute injuries, bodily functions and lifestyle factors that can be addressed to give a long term resolution of pain and lead to performance, be that sport, lifestyle, or otherwise.
He has the belief that a non-judgemental approach to every individual is necessary to create a partnership between patient and Osteopath.
Dylan appreciates that everyone has a different goal, from simply keeping pain at bay to long term fitness/health goals.
Together, you and Dylan will go through a series of movements and testing to highlight areas of improvement. Then Dylan will explain a treatment plan for helping you recover. Once you are comfortable with the treatment plan, a combination of techniques will be utilized where appropriate, including mobilization, activation, trigger point, massage or manipulation.
He has a keen interest in health and fitness in all its forms, having previously been on the Australian Men's Bobsleigh team, and currently enjoys Powerlifting. Outside of work you can find him training, learning something new, exploring new cooking recipes or relaxing with his mates. He graduated with a Masters in Health Science (Osteopathy) from Victoria University in Melbourne.

WHAT TO EXPECT
YOUR FIRST VISIT
We can be hard to find as we are not allowed signage on the building - we are located upstarirs in the Kettlefit gym at 3/320 Bridge Street, Port Melbourne.
If we are already with a cleint, please take a seat somewhere - or have a look around the gym.
Once we've met and are in the treatment room your osteopath will ask questions about your problem and symptoms. They may also ask about your health history, any medications you are taking, as well as factors that may not appear to be directly related to your problem. If your health condition changes between osteopathic consultations, you should tell your osteopath at your next consultation.
Your osteopath will conduct a full osteopathic assessment involving clinical tests. This may involve diagnostic, orthopaedic or neurological tests, postural assessments, movement and functional assessments.
Some assessments involve the osteopath observing you while you undertake an activity or perform a sequence of movements. Assessments may also include passive and active movements - where the osteopath manually lifts your arms or legs or applies resistance while you perform a stretch or movement.
Osteopathy takes a holistic approach to treatment, so your practitioner may look at other parts of your body, as well as the area that is troubling you. For example, if you have a sore knee, your osteopath may also look at your ankle, pelvis and back.
Your osteopath may also provide education and advice to help you manage your condition between appointments. This may include giving you exercises to do at home or at work.
WHAT DO I BRING?
Bring along any X-rays, scans or test results that you may have. If you have been referred by another medical profesional, please bring the relvant paperwork.
Wear something comfortable! Depending on the area of your body requiring examination, your osteopath may ask you to undress to your underwear. It is essential that you feel comfortable, so you may want to bring a pair of stretchy gym shorts or pants to change into...
WILL TREATMENT HURT?
You're in charge, so we certainly hope not!
Osteopathy combines hands on manual therapy with exercise programming, dry needling, other interventions like exercise prescription and movement advice when clinically indicated. Hands-on treatment may include massage, stretching, repetitive movements, mobilisation and/or manipulation.
If your injuries require hands-on treatment of painful and tender areas, we will exercise care to make you are as comfortable as possible.
Some people experience mild soreness for a day or two after treatment, similar to that felt after mild exercise. If this soreness persists or increases, call us to discuss your concerns.
